Tubbercurry in Sligo on the North East border of Mayo
Tubbercurry is a market town at the foot of the Ox Mountains.
It is an important centre for traditional Irish music and dance playing host to the South Sligo Summer School.
People all over the world come to play and learn, usually in the second weekend of July. It is also an excellent angling centre for both coarse fishing and game angling.
The town is renowned in the West of Ireland for night time entertainments. Several bars and restaurants, as well as traditional Irish pubs, form the main attraction for people who travel from all over the Connacht region.
In Tubbercurry there is also an annual Fair Day held on the second Wednesday in August, where visitors can experience the sights and sounds and “Smells of Fair Days” gone by with live animals, live demonstrations of thatching, weaving, butter-making, trashing, pottery making and rush work.
