Fishing in Pontoon
Loughs Conn and Lough Cullen are two large limestone lakes separated by a peninsula at Pontoon, with an outflow to the Moy. Lough Conn is a beautiful lake of some 14,000 acres, extending nine miles from north to south and varying in width from two to six miles.
This great fishing lake, with its many bays and islands, enjoys a good run of spring salmon and an excellent run of grilse. Lough Cullen covers an area of over 2,000 acres and trout fishing begins there as early as mid-March.
Lough Cullen has a number of small sheltered beaches with the most popular one at Drummin Wood.
Golf
Pontoon is perfectly located for golf enthusiasts with a number of excellent links and parkland courses within 15 mins to 1 hours drive, including Enniscrone, Ballina, Swinford, Carne (Belmullet), Castlebar and Westport.
