Doohoma and Geesala Visitor's Guide in Co. Mayo
The annual Geesala Festival is a big attraction to Erris in County Mayo as visitors are attracted to the unique mixture of events, with the highlight being the horse racing and dog racing at Doolough Strand. Both Geesala and Doohoma are surrounded by rolling mountains and hills which slope downwards to meet the sea.
The are Heritage areas at nearby Carrowmore Lake which include Ederglen and Glenturk. To the south of Geesala lies Ballycroy National Park which one of only six in Ireland. The Visitor Centre in Ballycroy national Park is open from 10am-5.30pm, 7 days a week to the public during the summer period.
The Education Centre is run by the National Parks & Wildlife Service and caters for groups and institutions.
