The National Museum of Country Life is hosting a merry array of events for the 2024 Christmas.

The Museum Christmas Market will take place on Sunday, December 15th, from 1 to 5 p.m. in the Courtyard of Turlough Park House.

Beautiful crafts handmade by local and regional artists, including candles, calligraphy, art, cards, textiles, and more, will be on offer.

A live crib will be set up in the Courtyard on Sunday, December 15th, and Sunday, December 22nd, from 1 pm to 5 pm.

Children will learn how the animals of the crib participate in the Nativity Story. Sheep, goats, cows, and donkeys will all be there.

Christmas Carols will create a special festive atmosphere at the Museum on Sunday, December 22nd, from 2.15 pm. The Cill Aodain Choral Society and The Mayo Male Voice Choir will perform a joyful repertoire of traditional and contemporary Christmas carols and choral pieces in the exhibition galleries.

A Christmas treasure hunt-style activity will take place during Museum opening hours.

Children aged five years and older, with their families, will go on a decoration hunt across three floors of exhibitions and find 12 decorations hanging in the displays.They will complete the hunt activity sheet, give it back to the Reception, and enter the free competition for a special Christmas goodie hamper.
