‘Irishtown – Cradle of the Land League’ is a historical pageant staged by Irishtown Drama and Heritage Group in association with Irishtown Community Development Ltd and Irishtown Community.

It will take place in Irishtown on the opening night of Heritage Week 2015: Saturday 22nd August at 9.30pm.

This unique event will be set in the environs of the authentic famine village of Parkatubber and along the old famine road. When darkness falls, the pageant will present the story of Irishtown through the medium of drama, light, music and dance starting from the 1840’s, through the famine years to the first great meeting of the Land League in 1879 and onwards to acknowledge the profound and transforming effect this meeting had on the Irish land question.

The show promises an authentic experience of history and culture for a wide audience and tourists alike.
