Located on the N59, 40km west of Ballina, Bangor Erris (in Irish Beannchar or Baingear) is an attractive little village on the banks of the Owenmore River, in the parish of Kiltane. Approx 2km from the 1000 hectares Carramore Lake, Bangor is an angler's paradise and an excellent base for wild atlantic salmon and sea trout fishing. Regarded as the gateway to the magnificent Erris Peninsula in North Mayo, Bangor Erris links Belmullet with Ballina and Westport.
