Charlestown Carnival - Duration 22nd to 29th May 1949. Featuring W S Simpson's Amusements & Fun Fair.
Including speed-cars, roundabouts, swings, roll 'em in, pongo, shooting range, la boule side shows, etc Gigantic Opening Parade on Sunday 22nd at 3.30pm Ballaghaderreen Boys Band will attend.

Sun 22nd May - Special engagement of Johnny Cox and his All-Star Rhythm Band (late of Hangar, Galway) for grand opening dance. Dancing 10pm to 3am. Admission 5/

Tue 24th May - Bros Walsh, Castlebar and his Arcadia Ballroom Orchestra, Dancing 10pm to 3am. Admission 3/6.

Thurs 26th May - Holiday Dance with Crystal Dance Band, Boyle, Dancing 10pm to 3am. Admission 3/6.
- Sun 29th May - Grand closing dance. Return engagement of Johnny Cox and his Band, Galway. Dancing 10pm to 3am. Admission 5/.

The finals of the Mayo Handball Championship at Charlestown Ballcourt at 3pm. Come and see the cream of Mayo's handballers, from Hollymount, Partry, Ballinrobe, Rathduff, Cloongullane and Charlestown compete in the Senior, Junior and Juvenile grades. Minerals and Tea Stall on grounds.
