A BERTH FOR YOUR BOAT IN THE WEST
Lacken Development Association Ltd. is putting forward proposals to develop the harbour at Kilcummin, Carrowmore-Lacken, Ballina, Co. Mayo. This harbour is located in a sheltered indentation on the western side of Killala bay and is well known historically as the place where General Humbert and his French army landed in 1798.
The proposed development would consist of a breakwater to give shelter from the South and a pier to give shelter from the East and provide berthage for fishing boats. In the harbour, it is proposed to construct a floating Marina with berthage for 102 yachts, motor boats, pleasure-craft etc. Access to the Marina would be independent of tides and weather conditions and would provide a necessary safe haven for ocean-going boats along this stretch of coastline. It is also within minutes cruising time from some of the best angling waters in the West.
If you, or any of your colleagues, would wish to provisionally book a berth in advance or write a letter stating that you would visit the Marina or if you can lend support in any way, please contact: Joe McAndrew, Banagher, Carrowmore-Lacken, Ballina, Co. Mayo or phone/fax 096-34258 or
e-mail: joemcandrew@eircom.net
We would also appreciate very much any advice with regard to Marina Development. If you have experience in this field please share your wisdom with us. Thanking you for your support.
Looking forward to hearing from you.
Yours sincerely,
Joe McAndrew
