Tír Sáile, The North Mayo Sculpture Trail

Site J

Sculptor:

Walter Michael, "Dun Caochain Head" Cathru Thaidhg (Carrowteige)

A sculpture based on the local legend associated with the one eyed giant. One hundred metre long construction, using earth and local stone. When viewed from site entrance the very Iong face shrinks to present the correct proportions.

Location:

Take the Carrowteige Road off the Glenamoy/Belmullet Road. On reaching a T-Junction, turn left to Carrowteige Village. 100 yards past the school on the left is site 'J', best seen from the coast road at Pollatomish.

The North Mayo Sculpture Trail begins in Ballina and follows the coastal route through Killala, Ballycastle, Belderrig, Belmullet and down to Blacksod.
